Home Of The Free

Ten years have gone by,
which is half of my life.
I have no children,
don’t have no wife.

In Afghanistan, my friends died.
I ask myself,”Why didn’t I?”
I feel guilty,
for there are many things that could’ve gone differently.

The smells, sounds, and visuals,
tell the story of individuals.
I miss my friends, my brothers.
No one cares, the others.

To my country, deaths of a lost cause
but to me, sacrificed for all of us.
They don’t see what I see…
“Land Of Liberty, Home Of The Free!”

  1. Beautiful….I can’t imagine how you feel…losing people who fought beside you…it has to be a hard feeling of knowing it “could’ve been you”

But as a proud American…I’d like to thank you for risking your life…and all your brothers and sisters who did so….may they rest in peace

It takes a strong person to do so…and people forget who we owe our freedom too…

    Thank You.

    • Thank you so much. It feels good to know that people still care in some way. The war may not be for the right reasons but human beings are still in harms way. I will be more than glad to share the story of my friend PFC John Edward Andrade Sr. He was 19, newly married and a 7 month year old son. He will be missed but most importantly, he will be remembered. Thank you again.
